Hospitality for Guest Worship Leaders

Rev. Natalie Fenimore extends a hand to welcome a new UU minister to fellowship at the 2013 Service of Living Tradition.

Worship Planning Is an Act of Hospitality

How do we communicate with guest worship leaders—whether they're clergy, laypeople, or musicians—so that we represent our congregation in welcoming, respectful, and fair ways?

If your congregation hosts visiting ministers and other outside speakers, please share these recommended guidelines (PDF) with your worship or Sunday services team. These Guidelines were assembled to provide clarity about the mutual expectations that Unitarian Universalist clergy and congregations bring to guest preaching experiences. This document reflects the collective experience of UU clergy in different ministerial settings, and the wisdom encapsulated by the Unitarian Universalist Ministers Association (UUMA) Code of Professional Practice.
