For more a decade the UUPCC Pilgrimage Service has helped to cement the bonds between North American UUs and their partners overseas. In recent years we have expanded our portfolio of travel services in order to provide multiple and varied pilgrimage opportunities for Unitarian Universalists of all ages. However, the focus and core offering of our service remains Congregational Pilgrimages. The past five years has seen almost 1000 US and Canadian UUs representing more than 150 congregations travel with us to visit partners around the globe. These pilgrimage groups ranged in size from 4-40 and we worked with each of them to customize an itinerary that met their time frame and interests. If your church is not partnered or you are not able or willing to organize your own group we offer a number of group tours for UUs of all ages and interests.
Philippines 2009 Spring Pilgrimage Eleven days of ... Ten nights, $1,650 per person, double occupancy + $150 registration fee. (Add $550 single supplement). Spring Pilgrimage - Transylvania & Budapest Thirteen days of ... Twelve nights, $1,650 per person, double occupancy + $150 registration fee. (Add $250 single supplement). Children accompanied by a responsible adult may be registered for $875 each. The Base trip begins May 22nd in Cluj (Kolozsvar) Romania. A ’Deluxe’ option is available for an extra $350. This option is for the extended itinerary with a May 20 start date in Bucharest and two additional days in Southern Transylvania. Consult the daily itinerary for specific program details. UU Transylvanian Pilgrimage (on a budget)
13 days/12 nights $950 per person + $150 registration fee. Single supplement for Kolozsvar & Segesvar nights $100. Single rooms cannot be guaranteed in other facilities. Includes ground transportation, meals (as detailed on itinerary below), lodging, guides, interpreters, and fees. Cost does not include international airfare and other travel to/from Cluj/Kolozsvar, Romania. 2 life-changing weeks in Transylvania for $1,100! This is the same quality Unitarian pilgrimage that the UUPCC has been facilitating for a decade – but at 60% of the price. We have just replaced hotels with dorms & guest-houses, replaced some of the restaurant meals with village meals, and eliminated the long van ride from Budapest. (You could easily add days in Budapest onto either end of the pilgrimage). Beginning and ending in Kolozsvar, this tour will visit the most significant of the Unitarian holy places including Torda, Meszko, Gyulaferhervar & Deva. You will also visit the frescoed Unitarian churches of, Szekelyderz (a UNESCO World Heritage site) and Karacsonfalva, the spectacular 13th century castle at Vadjahunyad, the medieval walled city of Sighisoara/Segesvar, and the Saxon fortress church at Biertan (Segesvar & Biertan are both UNESCO World Heritage sites). You will spend a weekend with your partner congregation – make new friends and revitalize your partnership. If you do not have a partner in Transylvania the UUPCC will arrange for you to stay in one of the many beautiful Unitarian villages with other pilgrims. Our Eleventh more-or-less-Annual Youth Trip for North American UU Youth ages 15 - 19
Travel with other UU youth from around the country accompanied by long-time UUPCC chaperones. Learn about Unitarian history in Transylvania and get to know the people in your partner village. The trip starts with an overnight stay in the Boston area where you meet your fellow travelers and get oriented before your departure for Romania. Arrive Bucharest Otopeni then take a motor coach to Transylvania. The trip includes a 3-day visit to your partner church. Along the way you will learn about the roots of our Unitarian faith, hike in some beautiful country, meet and work alongside Transylvanian Unitarian youth on a service project and have a great time. Don’t pass up this life-changing travel experience. 16 days, $1,600 per person + $150 registration fee, includes Romania ground transportation, meals, lodging, interpreter(s), guide(s) and entry fees. Cost does not include transportation from your home to/from Boston, , or personal spending money. The UUPCC Pilgrimage Service will research and coordinate the round-trip flight from Boston to Bucharest, but the airfare cost is in addition to the trip fee.
