Member Services

DISTRICT LIAISONS

1. Work with district office to promote music events and music workshops at district meetings.
2. Connect with the other UUMN musicians to assist each other, to provide musical events in the district. Act as a guide to resources for other musicians in the district.
3. Contact new music directors as they are hired in the district and assist as needed. Promote UUMN membership either individually or as a church membership. Are aware of any one who may need Mentor or Good Offices assistance.
4. Keep in touch with the VP Member Services for assistance, and share the work that you have done with the other District Liaisons.
5. Welcome any new UUMN members into the district when our Administrator sends you such information. Help them connect with other directors.

MENTOR PROGRAM

1. Assist new music directors in developing or strengthening their music programs.
2. Work with churches that have hired a new music director, helping them develop their music program, their goals and their needs to reach these goals.
3. Establish a covenant with the church or the music director regarding communication
4. Identify those music directors who would benefit by attending UUMN summer conference on a scholarship.
5. Work with Mentor Coordinator to determine the needs, the numbers, and the scope of the scholarships.

GOOD OFFICES

1. Good Officers are available regionally to assist and support musicians who experience professional difficulties.
2. Good Officers are available to assist with congregation/music director or board/music director conflicts.
3. Good Officer are not problem solvers, they are a supporting listener and can suggest ways of meeting with others to find a resolution, along with a vocabulary that is positive, firm and productive.
4. The Good Offices program provides workshops at GA and UUMN conferences on communication, conflict resolution and staff relations.
5. Good Officers are alert to needs that may arise in discussions on the UUMN e-list and are encouraged to offer phone or email conversation with those who are in need.
