What are dues to the District Presidents Association (DPA) and who pays them?
There are not "dues" per se to the DPA. The DPA does collect travel equalization fees from each district in the UUA. The fee, which is adjusted from time to time to keep pace with airfares, is set at $450 for the fiscal year 2007 (July 1, 2006–June 30, 2007). District Presidents (DPs)approve changes well in advance of budget cycles so that adjustments in district budgets can occur. The travel equalization fees from each district is due October 15th of each year. The Treasurer is responsible for preparing and mailing statements no later than August 31 of each year to the treasurers of each UUA district.
Over a number of years the DPA account accumulated a sizeable reserve and voted in 2002 to co-sponsor a pre-General Assembly (GA) workshop and in 2003 to host the Leadership Summit at GA in Long Beach (2004).
Districts are as varied in size and in staff as are our congregations. New DPs are encouraged to Google “District Services” at the uua.org website to get a flavor.
