Dear Fellow Unitarian Universalists!

The Appointments Committee of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) Board of Trustees is looking for skilled and devoted volunteers to serve our Association at the national level of leadership. You are called!

We have openings on the following committees and leadership groups. Please apply by Friday, February 24, 2017.

UUA Board of Trustees – 1 opening

(To be appointed immediately, and then re-appointed at General Assembly (GA). This is to fill an unexpected departure from the Board.)

The UUA Board of Trustees conducts the affairs of the Association and carries out policies and directives, acting for the Association between General Assemblies. The Board approves new congregations, associate organizations, and affiliate member organizations; defines rules for Association membership, GA procedures, ministerial and religious educator credentialing, and delegate accreditation; sets the business agenda for GAs and schedules the time and location; proposes amendments to bylaws and rules; appoints members of board committees and officers of the Association; adopts the annual budget; oversees investments; appoints study commissions as required by the bylaws; creates policies to promote openness and transparency and to establish the boundaries and goals governing the work of the staff and committees; and assigns new congregations to districts.

Appointments Committee – 2 openings

The Appointments Committee recruits and recommends candidates for Board-appointed committees as well as Board appointments to elected committees.

Election Campaign Practices Committee – 1 opening

The duties of the Election Campaign Practices Committee are to distribute the campaign practices guidelines and financial disclosure rules to candidates for at-large elective positions, and to receive and consider written complaints of alleged violations of such guidelines or rules.

Employee Benefits Trust Board – 2 openings

(Note: This committee requires some expertise in the field.)

The responsibilities of the UUA Employee Benefits Trustees are to make policy decisions for the UUA Health Plan and provide oversight of Plan activities, including determining the third party administrator and other vendors that will work for or support the Trust on a fee-for-service basis.

Journey Toward Wholeness Transformation Committee – 1 opening

The Committee's charge is to monitor and assess the work of the Association toward becoming a genuinely anti-racist, anti-oppressive, multicultural institution.

Open UUA Committee – 1 opening

The Open UUA Committee is charged to clarify and implement the functional application of Rule G-2.1, “Adherence to the Democratic Process,” to the UUA Board and all UUA committees, commissions and task forces.

Retirement Plan Committee – 3 openings

(Note: This committee also requires some expertise in the field.)

The Retirement Plan Committee oversees the Association’s defined contribution retirement plan covering ministers and other employees of our congregations, and UUA staff.

Socially Responsible Investing Committee – 1 opening

The committee’s mission is to uphold the Unitarian Universalist Association’s commitment to invest its endowment funds in alignment with Unitarian Universalist values. They do not directly manage any funds; that is the responsibility of the Investment Committee.
