Board Working Group: Excellence in Ministry
In December of 2008 the Unitarian Universalist Associations's (UUA) Panel on Theological Education sponsored a Summit on Excellence in Ministry. This meeting brought together over 60 people representing a wide spectrum of "stakeholders" of this important topic. At the end of the meeting eight areas of excellence in ministry were identified. These have been divided up between the UUA administration, the UUMA, and the Board. They are:
- Ministerial culture and credentialing, owned by the Board, MFC, Credentialing Task Force, overseen by Board’s Excellence in Ministry Working Group.
- Whose are we? Owned and overseen by the UUMA.
- Anti-Racism/Anti-Oppression/Multi-Culturalism and its resistance, owned by the Board and overseen by the Our Congregations Working Group.
- Collegiality and continuing education, owned and overseen by the UUMA.
- Lay theological education, owned by Congregational Life and overseen by the administration.
- Emotional and spiritual maturity, owned by MPL and overseen by the administration.
- Right relationship with the schools, owned by the Board as a whole.
- What is the model of church to which we aspire, in which we might have excellence in ministry, owned by the board and overseen by the Our Congregations Working Group.
All of these areas are on-going. For more information please contact the appropriate "owners."
This work is made possible by the generosity of individual donors. Please consider making a donation today.
