Youth Caucus is Not Just for Youth

Adults have a place, too

While Youth Caucus programs are designed by youth, with youth as their primary audience, there are many ways that adults interact with and participate in Youth Caucus. Our biggest adult presence is sponsors – those adults who make it possible for youth under 18 to attend General Assembly. Sponsors, of course, attend the required orientation, but are also found attending workshops, taking groups of youth to lunch and worshiping with the community. Other adults, whether they be advisors, allies, religious educators, parents, ministers or more, are also welcome, particularly to our worships that are open to all. Each of our other programs may have a different request for adult participation, with some mixing youth and adults together, some with separate adult breakout groups and some asking adults to observe rather than participate. So check out the Youth Caucus schedule and see whether you might want to join us. We invite you and we welcome you. If you ever have concerns about how to be a good adult ally in the youth space, you can always reach out to our Advisor/Sponsor Coordinator team who will help you figure out the best way to be a supportive adult. Who are the adult advisors? This year, our advising team is Schuyler Vogel, a seminarian at Harvard Divinity School and former DRE, and Rev. Kate Landis, the minister at Shoreline Unitarian Church. We asked the team to share what they most wanted you to know. Schuyler emphasized, “General Assembly is a wonderful experience and we will do everything we can to make it that way. We also want everyone to have a safe and non-anxious time. At any point during GA, we hope you will feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have. We sponsors are here to help. See you there!" Links of Interest Youth Caucus Descriptions and schedule. GA Program Book GA Business Agenda Connect with the Youth Caucus on Facebook
