Developmental Ministry: What Is it Now?

Is Developmental Ministry the right type of partnership for your congregation? Is it just for “problem” congregations? Fifteen years since the program inception, we’ll share what UUA staff and developmental congregations have learned about equipping leaders to move toward new and different futures, promoting equity and justice as they do.

In line with the focus of this GA on stories, the workshop will be a conversation with congregation leaders, facilitated by Christine Purcell, Rev. Keith Kron and Rev. Patrice Curtis.

The Transitions Team

Patrice coaches and trains transitions religious professionals, search committees and UUA staff in cultural competency skills that foster deep belonging. Patrice is Transformational Interim Ministries Director within the Ministries and Faith Development staff group at the UUA.

Keith Kron is the Director of the Transitions Office within the Ministries and Faith Development staff group at the UUA.

Christine Purcell is Transitions Program Manager within the Congregational Life UUA staff group.

Q: My congregation is preparing to enter the search process for a new minister, and we understand we need to fill out a congregational record. How do we access that?

A: The Transitions Office uses our new MinistrySearch system, which debuted in Spring 2018, to conduct all type of searches (called/settled, interim, developmental, and contract). To get started, congregational leaders should send an email to transitions@uua.org with their congregation’s full name, city, and state, and the name and email for your contact person. We will need to know the type of search, percent time, and start date in order to initiate the search.
