As my first year as your UUA President comes to a close, I am remembering Rev. Bill Sinkford’s charge to me at last year's General Assembly. He said, “Call us to become the religious people we want to be. Call us to a belief in the good news our tradition offers.”

This is a powerful charge, and we have been answering it. We are indeed moving toward beloved community. I am inspired by you and so many around the country who keep showing up powerfully for UU values.

This is no time for a casual faith.

The health and strength of our congregations as vibrant, welcoming, and progressive spaces truly matters – and is deeply needed. And gifts from donors like you make this possible.

Your gifts amplify our national social justice efforts like Love Resists and Side With Love. They help create the spiritual sustenance we need from Beacon Press and Skinner House Books, as well as WorshipWeb and Braver/Wiser.

And your gifts amplify the impact of all of our congregations – and they help me and the UUA amplify the national voice for our values so critical in this moment.

Together we create a force more powerful than any one person or any one congregation could imagine or build on their own.

It’s important that we not let the opportunity or the urgency of this moment slip away.
