Toxic Substances and Hazardous Waste
1984 General Resolution
WHEREAS, every person has the right to a safe and healthful environment; andWHEREAS, as the problems created by toxic substances and hazardous wastes affect our health and that of future generations, it is our responsibility to insure a safe and healthful environment;
BE IT RESOLVED: That the 1984 General Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Association urges all Unitarian Universalists to inform themselves, educate others, and involve themselves and others in solving the problems caused by improper disposal of hazardous waste and toxic materials into our land, water and air; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That this Assembly urges members of the Unitarian Universalist Association in Canada and the United States to work with their governments in enforcing laws designed to:
- Insure that industry and government assume their responsibilities for past mistakes and work to prevent future errors by adhering to both the letter and intent of related law;
- Control the sale and use of toxic substances both at home and abroad; and
