Meditations and Prayers
W. Frederick WoodenHeart's delight, Source of mercy,
"Heart's delight, Source of mercy," beyond my sight yet beside my soul, holy is the very thought of thee. Justice is your call and love your enfolding heart. Abide with us day by day even in our stumbling, that we may grow in our compassion for our kindred. Keep us from arrogance by casting a light into the darkness around us and within. For thou art the longing of our hopes, and the horizon of our dreams, bidding our "hearts not rest til they find rest in thee." Amen.Quoting: "Heart's delight, Source of mercy": yedid nefesh, Gates of Prayer: The New Union Prayerbook, Central Conference of American Rabbis, 1975.
