Congregational Poll Results
Determining What Proposed Congregational Study/Action Issues (CSAIs) Will Appear on the GA 2008 Agenda
The Congregational Poll closed as of February 1st. Its purpose was to receive congregational input on whether to post both, either, or neither of the two proposed Congregational Study/Action Issues on the GA 2008 agenda. Under new social witness bylaws, a 25% quorum of certified congregations must participate in this poll for the process to move forward. This quorum was surpassed, and congregations voted to move both proposed CSAIs onto the General Assembly (GA) 2008 Agenda. Specific results are:
CSAI-1: Ethical Eating: Food and Environmental Justice
Yes: 404 votes, 41%
No: 9 votes, 1%
Abstain: 340 votes, 35%

Vote: 228 votes, 23%

CSAI-2: Nuclear Disarmament
Yes: 330 votes, 33.5%
No: 27 votes, 3%
Abstain: 389 votes,
39.5%

The current Congregational Study/Action Issue (2006-2010) is Peacemaking.
"Peacemaking" (PDF, 2 pages) was adopted at General Assembly 2006 n St. Louis, MO, to be the Congregational Study/Action Issue (CSAI) for 2006-2010.
