Public Policy & Legislation

The predominant issue is the privatization of water—both here in the U.S. and in other parts of the world.

The bottle water industry is dominated by four large transnational corporations: Coca-Cola, Pepsico, Nestlé and Danone. These "Big 4" giants in the industry have economies that are larger than some countries. When one of the Big 4 establishes a plant in a community they take not only water from the regions aquifers or municipal water utilities, but often they receive massive subsidies and tax exemptions.
