About SEAT
What does SEAT stand for?
Sexuality Education Advocacy Training
What is SEAT?
SEAT brings together youth and young adult allies from the
Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA), United Church of Christ (UCC), and Union for Reform
Judaism (URJ) communities to discuss sexuality education as a religious issue,
its impact on young people, queer people and people of color. The three and a
half day training includes interfaith sharing and worship including a Sunday
service with Unitarian Universalist Association President Bill Sinkford,
identity mapping and development, community organizing skill building sessions,
a legislative briefing, lobbying training and lobby visits with Congressional
staff as well as sightseeing opportunities in our Nation's Capital.
Who can attend?
UU/UCC/URJ youth, young adults, and adult allies who are
passionate about the importance of sexuality education and want to learn how to
be religious advocates for comprehensive sexuality education and community
leaders on this issue.
Where is it?
The training will be held in Washington, DC, at the Carlyle
Suites Hotel. If you have questions or concerns about site accessibility please
contact us at seat @ uua.org.

provided. Generous funding is readily available to offset travel costs

acceptance notice.

About the Application
When are applications due?
The application deadline has been extended until January 15th!! Apply Today!!!
How do I apply?
Fill out an online application.
Do I have to apply online?
Paper applications (PDF) are available, but we strongly encourage applicants to apply online if they are able.
Why do I have to agree to bring what I learn back to my community?
SEAT
is held each year to bring together activists and teach them how to effectively
advocate for comprehensive sexuality education in their communities. The event
is specifically for people that want to apply what they learn at SEAT when they
return home.
I have never taken a sexuality education course before, can I still apply?
Sure! Not having taken a sexuality education course is just as valuable an
experience to bring to the training as those who have taken a course. You can
always write about what you learned by not taking a sexuality education course.
I have attended SEAT in the past, should I still apply?
Yes. Past attendees bring a lot of passion and experience to the training.
Should I tell my friends about the training?
Yes! Attending SEAT in a
group of two or three is a fantastic way to gain as much knowledge as you can
and will help you when you organize in your community.
