In July 2004, the House of Representatives unanimously passed a resolution calling on the Bush administration to call the killings in Darfur a genocide.

In June 2005, President Bush called the systematic killings in Darfur, Sudan a genocide.

In August 2007, the U.S. House of Representatives passed almost unanimously a bill that authorizes divestment from companies that support the Sudanese government.
