About the Authors
AISHA KHADR HAUSER
Aisha Khadr Hauser is the children and families program
director for the Lifespan Faith Development staff group of the Unitarian
Universalist Association. She was born in Alexandria, Egypt, and came to the United
States as a toddler. She grew up in New Jersey and holds a master’s degree in social work from
Hunter College in New York
City and a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a minor in
anthropology from Rutgers University. She worked as a child and
family therapist at a mental health clinic before having her own two children,
Leila and Luke. She is a Credentialed Associate Level religious educator who has
served the Fourth Universalist Church in Manhattan and the First UU Church of Essex
County, NJ. Aisha has held leadership positions on the Board of LREDA and was
chair of the LREDA Integrity Team.
SUSAN LAWRENCE
Susan is the managing editor of the Tapestry of Faith series published by the Lifespan
Faith Development staff group of the Unitarian Universalist Association. She
holds a master’s degree in teaching from Tufts University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut. Susan taught high school
social studies and has taught writing, video and television production, media
literacy, nonprofit program evaluation and other communications-related topics
to learners of all ages. Susan is also an award-winning television producer, a
produced playwright, and a freelance writer. A member of First Parish Unitarian
Universalist in Malden,
Massachusetts, Susan is a
co-founder of the congregation’s Worship and Music Committee. She also serves on
the school council of her daughter Tihun’s elementary school and is co-chair of
a local arts council. .
