Activity 2: Singing (4 minutes)
Materials for Activity
- Copies of the Unitarian Universalist hymnbook Singing the Living Tradition for all participants
- Optional: A piano, guitar, or other form of accompaniment (strongly recommended for Hymn 121, "We'll Build a Land")
Preparation for Activity
- Decide whether you'll sing Hymn 121, "We'll Build a Land," or Hymn 95, "There Is More Love." "We'll Build a Land" can be especially inspiring, but is long and generally needs accompaniment. "There is More Love" is more straightforward in its language and easier to sing a cappella.
- Gather copies of Singing the Living Tradition for participants.
- Arrange for musical accompaniment if you believe your group will need it.
Description of Activity
Distribute copies of the Unitarian Universalist hymnbook Singing the Living Tradition. Provide large-print and/or braille versions for participants who might need them.
Invite participants to rise in body or spirit and sing the hymn you have selected from Singing the Living Tradition.
