Description of Activity
If you have used a Word Wall during Creating Home, children can review together the words they have learned.Use the index cards or post-its from the Word Wall as flashcards to refresh the group's memory of the words.
Distribute Handout 2, Word Wall Memory Page and place crayons or color markers at each work table. Ask each child to choose one word to illustrate. Help each child copy the word he/she has chosen from the index card or post-it. Or, use newsprint to write an individual word for children to copy.
Tell the children that if they finish one drawing, they may make another. Show them where you have extra handouts. If a child wants to do another drawing, help him/her write the Word Wall word he/she wants to illustrate in the space provided on Handout 2, Word Wall Memory Page. If a child makes multiple pages, staple them together to make a booklet.
