Tennessee: Young Adult & Campus Ministry Anchor Congregations

  • First Unitarian Church-Church of the River
    Memphis, Tennessee
    Southwest District
The Church of the River, a large congregation in Memphis, has done a great deal to institutionalize support for its campus ministry at Rhodes College in the past year. The Rhodes Unitarian Fellowship benefits from a paid campus coordinator, as well as from staff time from the Director of Religious Education. Their program is part of the Congregation-Campus Connection grant program, meaning that the congregation is working towards a $3000 annual budget for their campus ministry programs. Regular on-campus meetings are centered on worship and discussion, and Rhodes students are becoming involved in the congregation's social justice programs. The congregation hopes to expand its campus ministry to other nearby colleges and universities in the near future.
Received Anchor Congregation designation in 2004.
