New York: Young Adult & Campus Ministry Anchor Congregations

  • Unitarian Church of All Souls
    New York City, New York

    Metro New York District
The Unitarian Church of All Souls has had an active and growing young adult ministry since 1998. In 2004, the congregation hired a full-time staff minister with young adult and campus ministry in their portfolio and expanded its programs to include campus ministry at New York University. Significant budget support and involvement of dedicated lay leaders rounds out this church's commitment to young adult and campus ministry. Both young adult and campus programs include regular worshiop, social programs and social justice opportunities. The congregation has also taken the lead on helping to organize district-wide young adult community.

Received Anchor Congregation designation in 2005.

  • UU Congregation at Shelter Rock
    Manhasset, New York
    Metro New York District
The Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock staffs its growing young adult and campus ministry program with a full-time Youth and Young Adult Program Coordinator. The congregation hosts an active campus ministry at CW Post on Long Island (collaborating with interfaith partners and other local campuses) and provides a “long distance ministry,” as well as special summer activities, to former youth leaders now at college in other parts of the country. Programs for young adults include social, spiritual development, and social justice projects, often collaborating with other groups in the congregation. Other offerings for young adults include a resource library, fully-funded summer internships at UU and community organizations, Soulful Sundown evening worships, and a significant budget specifically for this age group.
