- Mac Hammond's "Thanksgiving," poem #119 from Poetry 180, or another humorous poem about food
Description of Activity
Chalice Lighting
Gather participants in a circle. Light the chalice, and say the words provided below, youths' words, or others of your choice. As always, invite participants to lead the chalice lighting.
"We gather together,
Nourished by each other,
Nourished by love, good food, and honesty."
Reflection
Invite participants to reflect on the opening activity. Display the food with captions, if it seems appropriate. Read the humorous poem chosen earlier.
