If it would be helpful in creating sacred space, light a candle or chalice. Read the story "Finding Balance." Reflect on these questions:

  • What activities in your life help you feel balanced and centered?
  • Think about your experiences as a giver and a recipient of gifts. What gifts have made you happiest to give? To receive?
  • How satisfied do you feel with the material things you have? Do you feel as if you have enough? Do you ever feel you have too much?
  • How satisfied do you feel with your level of giving?

If you are comfortable, prepare to talk about your own choices around charitable giving with the group. You have an opportunity in this session to model the concept of living in balance.
