The Bliss of the Kiss

by Richard Blissett

Together we are
Two beings in a plane of nonexistence
Holding one another
No sounds,
Just the silent beats of our hearts
I hold you tight,
Terrified of the inevitable
Dreading the when it would finally come,
And my heart succumbs to you
What will come of the result?
Will it tear us apart?
Or will it bring us into one being?
Suddenly it arrives
In all its glory,
It somehow pulls at my heart
Why does it nag so?
Eternity slips though our fingers
As we stand here together,
Souls finally meeting
Such is love's first kiss
Despite all the confusion,
The craziness of it all,
It is its own silent bliss
So when it walks up your front steps
Let it in and offer it the best chair.
