Dark

by George D. Brown

Are you afraid of the dark?

Shit, I was. I don’t think a single kid has never heard a story of evil night goblins and apparitions that are materialized from the blackness that engulfs the world at night. Why, though? Is it that the dark is mysterious; it can hide things evil and good. So that's why we got light, right? The light can control us. It tells us when and where we are going, and it will show us what’s sin and what will save. It shows us what’s in front of us, and it doesn’t matter how small the light is spread throughout wherever and whenever. So when the white knight rides to the dark wizards house we know what’s going to go down, don’t we? For no matter how smart the wizard is, no matter what forces or powers he’s got, the light knight will win. But you know, I was thinking though this little light will shine and continue its tyranny on my mind. But baby, when the lights go out we can make our goblins appear. We can make what we fear. So then that means I can create any image that I want in front of me since its dark. So the dark tells me my future. It’s my proverbial crystal ball. That light shows me all the plain reality that I’m fed through the rest of my life. So when I look in my mirror now I see option and not oppression.
