Submitting Multimedia Files for Use on UUA.org
The Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) is not currently accepting unsolicited audio, video, or other multimedia files. Every submission must include a UUA staff contact and information about the project for which it is intended.
Instructions
- Find out who the staff contact is for the project for which you are submitting material. (Announcements about the project should include the person's name.)
- Use the Multimedia Submission Form to submit information about the file.
- Your UUA staff contact will let you know whether we are interested in evaluating your file. If so, you can use WeTransfer.com or another free file transfer service; multimedia files are usually too large for email. (If you prefer, you can mail a CD or DVD containing the file to your UUA staff contact).
- Please consider uploading these additional files:
- A transcript that we can use to make your file more accessible.
- A high-quality photo or other image, at least 480 pixels wide by 360 high, for the "splash" image that appears in the body of the page before a video starts playing, and another at 230 pixels wide by 197 pixels high for use in our sidebar area.
- If you want your file to be considered for the Featured Media on the Resources page, also submit a high-quality photo or other image that is at least 700 pixels wide by 220 high.
- A transcript that we can use to make your file more accessible.
- After you upload the file(s), your UUA staff contact will let you know when and whether the multimedia file has been posted on UUA.org.
Copyright and Permissions
By submitting material to the UUA, you affirm that:
- you own the copyright to this media or have written permission from the copyright holder that grants the UUA the rights listed below. If you cannot or do not wish to grant all these rights, please note any restrictions in the Copyright Restrictions box (below).
- you have written permission from the composers and performers of any music (or other performance) to include it in this material, and to grant the rights listed below to the UUA.
- you have written permission from people who appear in the material for their image/sound to be used as stated below.
- the material does not break any state or federal laws, or defame anyone.
See Filming Others May Require Permission for advice. Our Video Talent Release Form (PDF) (Word) may also be helpful. Permissions for Multimedia Files explains our permissions policy.
Technical Specifications
The closer your file(s) are to our output standard, the more quickly we'll be able to process your submission.
We reserve the right to edit media for quality and length and to decline to publish submitted material.
Transcripts
Please include a transcript or text alternative for your multimedia files. A text alternative to your multimedia file is important...
- for accessibility: don't exclude people with different levels of ability.
- for users who can't play sound (perhaps due to their location).
- for people who absorb information better by reading than by listening.
- so your information is unambiguous, and easily quoted or shared.
- for people who wish to scan the content before deciding to invest the time to watch or listen.
- for users who can't or don't want to install the software or allow the security settings required to use multimedia files.
