Welcoming Congregation Renewal

LGBTQ Welcoming Congregation

Twenty-six years after the launch of the Welcoming Congregation Program, the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) has some great news! Seventy-six percent of UUA congregations overall and 95% of congregations over 100 members are recognized as Welcoming Congregations. “With federal marriage equality a reality, we could say our work is done, but that would be a disservice to the thousands of Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) Unitarian Universalists (UUs) and LGBTQ people everywhere still facing daily discrimination, and who still need ministry and advocacy specific to their identities. We encourage you to reignite your congregation’s work of welcome and inclusion by making a commitment to renew your Welcoming Congregation recognition. Each congregation that notifies UUA LGBTQ Ministries of its commitment to renewal in the next year will receive two new Welcoming Congregation posters and permission to use the new LGBTQ logo on its website and other publications.”Apply for Welcoming Congregation status.
