David Pettee

David Pettee was a lifelong Unitarian Universalist from a family that has worshipped in UU churches for eight generations. David was raised in the Winchester (MA) Unitarian Society, and was a member of UU churches in Reading, MA, San Francisco, CA, and Newton, MA. David received his undergraduate degree from Ithaca College and finished graduate training in social work at Boston University in 1983.

David first felt called to serve as a Unitarian Universalist minister in 1984 while attending an installation service. At the suggestion of one of his predecessors at the UUA, David attended Starr King School for the Ministry to deepen his appreciation of Unitarian Universalist culture on the West coast. While a seminarian, David walked across America on the Great Peace March, discerning the promise of ministry beyond the walls of the church.

David retired from his position as UUA Credentialing Director in June, 2020 and passed away in September, 2020.
