UUA President to Deliver Sermon in DC on Morning of National Equality March

Morales Will Urge America to Stand on the Side of Love, Support Marriage Equality & GLBT Rights
This Sunday, October 11th, Reverend Peter Morales, president of the Unitarian Universalist Association, will deliver a sermon entitled “Standing on the Side of Love” calling on people of all faiths to support full and equal rights for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) individuals. Rev. Morales will speak at approximately 9:45 a.m. and again at 11:30 a.m. at the historic All Souls Church, Unitarian in Washington, DC, a congregation with a centuries-old tradition of social justice ministries. Rev. Morales will address regular All Souls congregants and Unitarian Universalists and others from across the country who have come to march on the National Mall as part of the National Equality March.
Both Rev. Morales and Rev. Robert Hardies, Senior Minister at All Souls, will be available for comment to the media.

Morales’ sermon will precede the largest equality march on Washington in decades, the National Equality March. March participants are unified in their call for equal protection in all matters governed by civil law in all 50 states.
Standing on the Side of Love is a campaign sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) and promotes respect for the inherent worth and dignity of every person. We believe that no person of any immigrant status, race, religion, gender and sexual orientation, ability level, or political view should be dehumanized through acts of exclusion, oppression, or violence.

The UUA has supported civil rights for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people for over forty years. The denomination voted in 1996 to advocate for full legal marriage equality for same-sex couples.
