“Valuing All Families”: An Interfaith rally in Support of Immigrant Families
When: 5:15 p.m. - 6 p.m., Friday, June 26th, 2009
Where: Gallivan Center Outdoor Plaza, Salt Lake City – this event is free and open to the general public.
What: Immigrant families face discrimination, hatred and legal barriers to keeping their families together. Unjust raids are tearing families apart, separating children from parents and creating fear and repression in immigrant communities. Join with interfaith, immigrant, and community leaders to stand with immigrant families before SB81 takes effect on July 1st and makes them even more vulnerable.
Who: Participants will include:
Rev. William Sinkford, President, Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA);
Most Reverend John C. Wester, U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, Chair on Migration & Refugees;
Right Reverend Carolyn Tanner Irish, Bishop of Episcopal Diocese of Utah; and
Rev. Canon Dr. Pablo Ramos, Latino Missioner of Episcopal Diocese.
Music will be provided by members of the First Unitarian Church of Salt Lake City. The host of the event will be Rev. Thomas Goldsmith of the First Unitarian Church.
