"During this time you may want to hold the Tennessee Valley UU Church in your silence..."
Words Introducing Period of Silent Meditation
By Rev. Barbara J. Pescan
During this time you may want to hold the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church in your silence, and open to a sense of lightness, brightness and spaciousness around their lives and the work they will be called on to do in the days and months ahead;
you may want to extend your supportive thoughts to others you know whose lives have been torn by violence;
you may breathe in the darkness, heaviness and claustrophobia of all those you don’t know who are surrounded by war or threat of war, by the systemic violence of poverty with no exit, by famine and the evil behavior of their own governments;
and you may imagine yourself among all human beings living amid sudden loss, unexpected violence, and the realities of difficult existences and know that we, too, are part of this human family of loss and love, of encounters with evil acts and acts of great generosity, and of suffering, joy, life and death, and all the sweetness of ordinary living in between.
This work is made possible by the generosity of individual donors. Please consider making a donation today.
