Congregational Connections with the MidAmerica Region

The MidAmerica Region staff have been busy this summer creating opportunities for congregations, staff, and clergy to share stories and practices about how to navigate a virtual congregational world. We have also been working on opportunities for congregations to hold questions about the Commission on Institutional Change’s June 2020 Report, Widening the Circle of Concern, and how it relates to efforts to dismantle systemic white supremacy culture within the UUA.

By the end of September, Operations Managers, Clergy, DRE, Membership, and Music staff from all congregations in the MidAmerica Region will be invited to affinity group conversations to discuss pandemic adaptations and questions, share resources, and brainstorm ways to help one another and our members.

In addition, there are on-going meetings to which lay members are invited. For those of you who attend a congregation with less than 100 members, try our “Small Congregation Check-Ins.” For those of you who are lay leaders within your congregations, try our “Congregational Leaders Check-Ins.” These webinars are recurring, and you will need to register 24 hours in advance in order to attend.

Finally, our staff team and MidAmerica Board are working their way through the Commission on Institutional Change Report, Widening the Circle of Concern. The report is also available for sale at the UUA bookstore, inSpirit, or as an eBook in the Amazon Kindle store. Watch the newsletter for future opportunities to Regionally engage with this vital report.
