Stuff to Ponder
The first year after high school can be tough. Being young and independent is difficult, exciting, frightening—but it is always wonderful. This is your time to explore who you want to be and discover what you want to believe. This is a time to define yourself.First rule of thumb: Have fun. Enjoy each new phase of your life. The pages that follow offer you some opportunities and challenges. You have the whole world at your feet; you should do all the things you want to do. It is your life. Of course, the Unitarian Universalist (UU) world hopes that this kit will help strengthen your ties to UUism and enrich your spirituality. Young adults have the potential for greatness. We are young, energetic, and the future of this world. As you live your life, remember your potential and use your energy. Don’t let it go to waste. Learn. Explore. Have fun. Enjoy life. Find ways to get involved in your community. Join an activity club, a study group, a social justice cause. Keep yourself busy. Embrace life. Plunge. With luck, this packet of information and ideas will help you along your way. You may find other UUs to play with and then connect. Or maybe you’ll find motivation to conquer tasks on your own. Remember there are always activities to do and people to support you. Enjoy!
