Rules

Sex

Every district has a rule regarding it. Although YRUU [Young Religious Unitarian Universalists] recognizes that our sexuality is an integral part of each of us as human beings, sexuality is not always expressed in ways that are beneficial to individuals and the conference community. Therefore, inappropriate sexual behavior which detracts from the conference community is prohibited. This may include, but is not limited to sexual intercourse, oral sex, exploitation, harassment, and abuse.

All districts respect the "No means No" rule. This goes for massages, "No thank you, I don't need or want one right now." Hugging, kissing, and all unwanted physical action can be stopped with a simple "no." No means just that—no. Don't be afraid to use it.

A basic premise at conferences is the respect of each person. This helps to create a loving, trusting community in which people are free to express their thoughts and emotions.

Drugs/Alcohol

All districts have a simple rule: no drugs This includes alcohol. Drug use detracts from the community. It makes people uncomfortable. It isolates the users from the community. And besides, drugs are illegal. Drug use at conferences threatens the existence of future conferences. So don't bring any drugs to a conference, and don't use any there! If you do, you will be sent home at your own expense.

Violence/Weapons/Vandalism

These aren't nice things to bring to cons. They don't impress people, they tend to be very harmful to people and objects. Overall, they aren't nice things. Cons are really nice things. Bad things and nice things don't mix very well. Enough said.

Conference Site Rules

Each site has specific guidelines which participants are asked to follow. For example, if the conference is at a church, participants may be asked to refrain from entering the minister's office or raiding the kitchen fridge, etc.

Special Rules

Your district may have some rules I haven't mentioned here. You'll know them because they won't fall under any of the categories I have mentioned. So talk to somebody who has gone to a conference and ask that person to explain the rule, or rules, to you.
