UUA Youth Ministries
Welcome to the Unitarian Universalist Youth Ministries homepage!
Unitarian Universalist (UU) youth ministries are supported by the Unitarian Universalist Association's (UUA's) Youth Ministries Office in the Lifespan Faith Development staff group. Ministry to and with youth takes place at many levels of our Association. The Youth Ministries Office at the UUA supports this multi-faceted ministry through the Chrysalis Training Program, General Assembly Youth Caucus, advocacy for the needs of youth in our faith, and consultation on youth programming.
As you may know, our UU Youth Ministry is in a time of transition, following the Consultation on Ministry to and with Youth and the 2007 Summit on Youth Ministry. For more information on this transition, including the ending of Continental Young Religious Unitarian Universalists (YRUU), please see the related open letter from President Bill Sinkford. As part of this transition, the Youth Ministry Working Group was charged with recommending to the UUA Board of Trustees and Administration a framework and imagination for the future of youth ministries, based on the Consultation’s and Summit’s findings. These recommendations are now complete and we invite you to learn more about them at our page about the Youth Ministry Working Group report.
Getting Started
If you are a youth, there are many ways you can become involved with Unitarian Universalism. For example, you can sign up to join UUA email lists especially for youth, including specific lists for BGLTQ (Bisexual, Gay, Lesbian, Transgender and Queer) youth, youth interested in social justice, and youth advisors. If you are interested in leading a youth group or are serving as an advisor, you can find additional resources in the Leader section of our website.
