Our Vision: A closely-knit community of Unitarian Universalists across the entire Mountain Desert District, with multiple communications channels for sharing ideas, exploring our faith, supporting each other, and making a difference to the community
Our Mission:
- Develop a community of UUs across the vast area that is the MDD
- Promote purposeful interaction among congregations, clusters and individual UUs across the district
- Foster resource sharing among congregations
- Supply information, education and advice to inquiring congregations and individuals
- Provide district communications systems and tools, including the district newsletter, electronic communications, and website
- Encourage attendance at annual conferences and delegate assemblies, cluster meetings, and the Presidents’ Forum
- Promote and administer the district and UUA awards program
Projects and Services:
- Operate, maintain and improve MDD website, mdduua.org
- Administer MDD’s e-mail lists on uua.org
- Publish Dispatch; make Dispatch useful to all UUs in the MDD
- Issue announcements to congregations and members
- Develop a network of congregational/cluster contacts
- Promote subscriptions to mdd-announce e-mail list
- Assist congregations and clusters with communications needs
- Assist district staff with communications needs, including maintenance and improvement of technology
- Administer and promote MDD Awards Program
- Encourage attendance at Presidents’ Council meetings
Current Projects
- Improving website:
- recruiting professional web design assistance
- Redesign to support Service Areas and Council
- MDD Annual Conference information
- Congregational contact representatives
- Keep District office informed of changes
- Correspondent, distribution for Dispatch
- Distribute district news in congregations
- Promote membership on mdd-announce
- mdd-announce subscriptions: increasing membership above current level of about 400
- District Office high-speed internet connection
