Why a Code of Ethics?

In our work with young adult and campus ministry groups around the continent, one of our major roles is the development of young adult leaders. Leadership is vital to any community; in a religious community, we believe that leadership comes with a responsibility to understand the ethical use of power. The development of a Code of Ethics was meant to help leaders do just that. It is not a covenant, which, by definition would need to be open for revision and re-interpretation by all who enter into it. Rather, it is a Code, meant to outline and clarify the ethical obligations of peer leaders in our movement.
