Religious Education Credentialing
The Re-Visioned Religious Education Credentialing Program
Effective May 1, 2009, the Office of Religious Education Credentialing is accepting applications to participate in the re-visioned Religious Education Credentialing Program (PDF, 17 pages), a more accessible and flexible program which recognizes the experience of long-term practitioners in the field.
This re-visioned program, a major overhauling of the credentialing program five years after its inception, incorporates feedback received from the Liberal Religious Educators Association (LREDA), particularly from those members who serve as mentors to participants in the credentialing program, as well as from credentialed religious educators, parish ministers, members of the UUA board, and a large number of religious educators working in the field.
The goal of the RE Credentialing Program is unchanged; it is to strengthen Unitarian Universalist religious education through the continued development and professionalization of lay religious educators, and to provide a clear and effective system for standards and recognition of these achievements.
Those who are already participating in the RE Credentialing Program have the option of continuing their current plan, or switching to the new plan.
