Interconnections

Local Affiliations

This section reviews the process and benefits for becoming affiliated as a campus ministry with a variety of other organizations. We highly recommend going through the steps to become affiliated and recognized by at least one institution because it provides your campus ministry with a network of peers and support.  Usually campus groups without a strong congregational connection and campus groups without at least a part-time paid staff person struggle to maintain an annual affiliation if there is one at all.

Benefits of Affiliation

  • Exchange program and organizational ideas
  • Mentorship and shared leadership development
  • Welcoming and visible presence
  • Resource sharing, including access to funding

Challenges of Affiliation

  • Annual paperwork
  • Potential difficulties in developing shared projects or events
  • Time required to maintain relationship with the broader community
