UUA Debuts Second Phase of National Marketing Campaign

The Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) has begun a second phase of national advertising with the April 14 edition (on newsstands April 4) of TIME Magazine, the most widely read news magazine in the United States with over 3 million subscribers and 21 million readers. The UUA full-page ad, which carries the headline, "When in Doubt, Pray. When in Prayer, Doubt." includes an offer for a free DVD to introduce Unitarian Universalism to newcomers.

The May 12 issue of TIME (available on newsstands May 2)—the popular “TIME 100” issue—will carry a UUA ad with the provocative headline, "My God is Better Than Your God," and will also include the free DVD offer. The TIME 100 issue features 100 people whose power, talent or moral example help to transform our world, and is one of the most heavily read issues of the year.

"Voices of a Liberal Faith," the UUA's new twelve-minute DVD (Windows Media), shares important background information and inspirational messages about our religion including our history, theology, worship experience, religious education, social justice and inclusiveness. The version of this DVD, posted on YouTube since the fall of 2007, has been seen by over 25,000 visitors and the UUA has distributed over 20,000 individual copies.

The UUA's national advertising campaign is supported through the generosity of Unitarian Universalist congregations who contributed to Association Sunday, held last fall. Funds raised helped produce online marketing in TIME, the Time.com Religion Pages, and the UUA's new “UU Perspectives” essays. 

The UUA will also resume advertising using Google Adwords. Advertising via Google Adwords has already attracted thousands of new visitors to UUA.org, UUWorld.org, and the UUA's “Find a Congregation” website.

The UUA’s national marketing campaign has energized congregations and individual UUs. It is hoped that seekers who yearn for a religious home that is guided by a quest for truth and meaning will discover UU congregations committed to supporting them on their spiritual journeys.

You can also see a new thirty-second ad on Unitarian Universalism (also available on YouTube), and view our new print advertisements (PDF) which are available for use in your local media or in your congregation.
