Delegates Have Duties

September 15, 2007

First Unitarian Church, Portland, OR requires delegates to General Assembly (GA) to not only attend plenary (business) sessions, but to find a way to share GA information when they return home. Delegates caucus before GA to discuss denominational issues. After GA they gather for a potluck/debriefing and contribute information for a church newsletter article. Says Portland member, Arnie Pickar, “We wish to assure that the use of church money is for the legitimate purpose of conducting church business. On a few occasions we have actually withheld stipends when the conditions were not met.”
