February 2008: Build a Culture of Peace with Intergenerational Spring Seminar
Dear Friends,
Greetings! The calendar still says winter, but we can turn our thoughts toward spring with an event included in this month’s congregational mailing. The Unitarian Universalist United Nations Office is extending an invitation to its annual Intergenerational Spring Seminar, titled "Picking Up the Pieces: Building a Culture of Peace." This event will look at efforts to build sustainable peace and how participants can take action. Our own Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) President Rev. William Sinkford is among the speakers at the conference, which takes place from April 3 to 5 in New York City.
Also included in this mailing are details on the February 13 conference call for investors in the UUA’s General Investment Fund (GIF). The Investment Committee and Committee on Socially-Responsible Investing will host this toll-free call to discuss performance, shareholder advocacy, and more. Investors, as well as congregations considering participation in the GIF, are invited and encouraged to join the call.
Rev. Dr. Stephan Papa sends grateful thanks from the Office of the President for Growth Funding for a successful Association Sunday, during which over $1 million was contributed, along with details about this year’s Association Sunday in October.
Directors of Religious Education are encouraged to check out the order form for 2008 Bridge Connections packets, too. Offered by the UUA Office of Young Adult and Campus Ministry, Bridge Connections are gift packs intended to keep our youth connected to Unitarian Universalism as they enter adulthood. See the enclosed flyers for more great information.
