May 2007: General Assembly; Safe Congregations
Dear Friends,As you have probably noticed, the UUA has a new and improved website. The new site is streamlined and user-friendly, with different sections for visitors, members, and leaders. Visit UUA.org and discover the many new features and fresh content! If you have any questions or comments about the new site, please write to web @ uua.org.
This packet includes a number of resources for people attending the General Assembly (GA) in Portland, Oregon, this summer. You will find information from the Commission on Social Witness (CSW) explaining the social witness process for GA, a form for your congregation to submit a proposal for a new Congregational Study/Action Issue (CSAI), a registration form for UU University, featured workshops from the UUA Advocacy and Witness staff and the Allies for Racial Equity, and more. See the enclosed flyers for more information. Visit the “Events” section of the new UUA website to find further information about GA online.
Keeping children safe in our congregations is an ongoing concern for all. Please read through the enclosed flyer “Safety Tips on a Sensitive Subject: Child Sexual Abuse” and add it to your other safety resources. If you don't already have Safe Congregation Policies in place we urge you to start that process. For information contact the UUA Office of Ethics in Congregational Life at (617) 948-6461 or safecongregations @ uua.org.
Please feel free to print extra copies of the materials included here and to share this information with others.
