September 2008: Kicking Off A New Church Year
Dear Friends,
I have a lot of information for you in this month’s mailing. But before I dive into that, I want to thank all of you for your support following the shooting in Knoxville, TN.
Whether it was cards and emails wishing swift healing and safety for the Knoxville congregations, donations to help them financially, or letters in local papers, the outpouring of support has been truly inspiring. Unitarian Universalists (UUs) pulled together in a time of need and showed the world what we’re made of first and foremost: love.
Here are a few things you will find in the mailing to kick off the new church year:
Take a look at the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) Social Justice Calendar and the online resources available from our Washington Advocacy Office to help you plan social justice activities.
Learn more about Association Sunday 2008 and the special initiatives that it supports. There’s still time to sign up before October 12th!
Read about four conferences happening this next year: the National Midsize Congregations Conference, the Young Adult Ministries training, the International Convocation of UU Women and the Sexuality Education and Advocacy Training.
Consider applying for the grants available from the UU Funding Program to help fund community organizing or to sponsor projects to support the democratic process.
I hope your church year starts off smoothly!
In peace,
Sabe Graham
