Spring 2007; Volume 2, Issue 2Data Services Login for Congregations
Since the launch of the new UUA.org, you probably noticed Data Services has been slightly reorganized. To access the congregational login from the Data Services home page, choose Congregations from the left-hand sidebar.
At least one staff member from each congregation should have access to the Data Services congregational login so they can update board and staff data, the UUWorld Circulation List, and a number of other features of our site that require the login. You will need your Church ID number (as printed in the UUA Directory) and Data Services password. If you do not remember the password, you can reset it.
Updating Board & Staff Data
You must use the Data Services congregational login to print a copy of your Congregational Elected Board & Staff (CEBS) packet, mark it up with necessary changes, and return it to the UUA according to the postmark deadlines below. Please note: the postmark deadlines vary depending on the month of your annual meeting/election:
July 2006-April 2007 meeting/election: This deadline has passed.
May 2007 meeting/election: Postmark Thursday, May 31, 2007.
June 2007 meeting/election: Postmark Friday, June 22, 2007.
This data is used for the 2008 UUA Directory and to update the distribution lists for Interconnections, the free newsletter for board and staff members. If you wish to receive your annual CEBS packet via postal mail, please contact Data Services, data_services @ uua.org, and remember to include your Church Name and Church ID number in the correspondence.
Updating Your Congregation's Contact Information
The Office of Data Services receives many requests to make changes to a congregation's mailing address, phone number, URL, etc. Don't forget that you can submit these changes using the Data Services congregational login. Once you have logged in, Update Information About Your Congregation to make the necessary changes. Information updates will be posted to the Find a Congregation Near You page at least twice each week.
Updating District Information for UUA Directory
Later this month, Sarah Lawrence Chapman will be emailing a District Directory Update to Data Services contacts in each District. Be sure to keep an eye out for this! You will need to use this form to update District data in time for the 2008 UUA Directory. If you have questions, please contact Sarah, slchapman @ uua.org.
Certification of Membership 2007—A Report
Thanks in large part to your hard work and attention to the Big Deadline (Feb. 1, 2007), I am happy to report 996 member congregations successfully certified their information this year. This number has increased steadily each year. Three years ago, the grand total was 931.
As always, we collected feedback from staff members who submitted data on behalf of their congregations. Each of these suggestions for improvement will be considered by the Office of Data Services when certification season returns. If you have comments about this, please direct them to our certification inbox, certification @ uua.org, and remember to include your Church Name and Church ID number with your correspondence.
UUWorld Circulation & Reporting New Members to the UUA
When you log in to your congregation's Data Services account, you have the option to view and print the UUWorld Circulation List of active member households from your church. We encourage each congregation to update this list on a quarterly basis, so that new members will begin receiving their complimentary copies of this magazine sooner rather than later.
The Summer 2007 UUWorld will be arriving at your congregation, and in the mailboxes of your reported members, very soon. Please make sure we receive your updated circulation lists no later than July 6 in order to make these changes and additions in time for the Fall 2007 UUWorld mailing. (If you will be sending your updated circulation list via postal mail, please be sure they are postmarked at least ten days before this deadline, or they will not be processed in time for the next mailing.)
Finally, please pay close attention to the revised Guidelines on page 1 of your congregation's circulation list. We ask that you follow these directions carefully so that we may update member information with the highest degree of accuracy.
Data Requests
Unitarian Universalist congregations may purchase mailing lists of all UUA congregations to help support their campaigns and initiatives. Also, congregations may receive free Congregational Historical Reports that include your past certified membership and RE numbers, Pledging Units, and Total Expenditures for the history of your congregation.
For more information, please visit our Data Request Center or email Data Services, data_services @ uua.org, with "Data Request" in the subject line.
