United Nations Sunday: The Global Challenge
Date: Passed: Saturday, October 26, 2019, 8:00 pm EDT
At All Souls Church in Watertown, NY, this was our 44th United Nations Sunday Service!! We utilized the familiar format and began with the procession of the children of the church carrying flags of UN member countries and with the congregation singing the words "Let there be Peace on Earth, and Let it begin with Me..." We read in unison the words of the United Nations Charter, and included the beautiful hymn: "This is My Song, thou God of all the Nations"
Glorious music was provided for the Service by 14 members of the Award-winning Northern Blend Acappella Chorus, and we had a very thought-provoking PowerPoint presentation by our guest, Victoria Leigh Wright, whose theme was "The Global Challenge: Global Perspectives: Population, Health, and the Environment."
The offering was designated for All Souls' contribution to our UU-UN Office.
Submitted by All Souls Church UU-UNO Envoy Sylvia Stuber Heap.
