REV. PETER MORALES: Hello. I’m Peter Morales, President of our UUA.
On this Association Sunday, congregations throughout America, and really all through the year, are working together to celebrate and strengthen and build the support for the connections that make us a larger movement.
As I travel around the country, and sometimes outside the country, I see all the time the kinds of things that we can do together as a movement - as an Association - that no congregation or even cluster of congregations could dream of doing. Together we are so much stronger in public witness, in reaching out and touching the lives of people.
On this year’s Association Sunday, we’re emphasizing our professional ministries—ordained ministry, our religious education, our musicians - and we’re working hand in hand with their professional associations to develop programs that will enhance and build the capabilities of our ministers. These are people who have dedicated their lives, our religious professionals, to our movement. And they need, in these changing times, to develop their skills. We’re putting together, with them, effective programs to do just that.
So I encourage you to be extraordinarily generous on this Association Sunday. The funds will be used to work to improve the ministries right there in your congregation. Please give generously and thank you very, very much.
