Association Sunday 2011: Celebrating Excellence in Ministries!
In our semi-centennial anniversary year, we will join together again to celebrate the bonds that connect us through a special service and collection on October 2, 2011.
We know that excellence in ministries is the cornerstone of successful congregations and a vibrant, growing Unitarian Universalism. This year, the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) has partnered with the Unitarian Universalist Ministers Association (UUMA), the Unitarian Universalist Musicians Network, the Liberal Religious Educators Association (LREDA), and other professional organizations to celebrate Association Sunday and to raise funds for the future of our ministries.
Donations to Association Sunday 2011 will support scholarships, continuing education, and a comprehensive assessment of our ministries and their needs for the future. Grants from Association Sunday 2011 funds will help religious professionals get ongoing training to support thriving congregations.
We thank the UUMA, UUMN, and LREDA for their support of Association Sunday. Members of their executive committees and boards have generously pooled personal contributions to make a combined lead gift of $10,000. The UUMA, UUMN, and LREDA have also sent a joint letter to their members in support of Association Sunday 2011. This historic partnership reminds us that “we are better together”!

2011 Empowering Congregation
The UUA is delighted to announce that in recognition of this year's theme of Excellence in Ministries, the congregation that inspires the greatest generosity will be named Association Sunday 2011's Empowering Congregation. This congregation will win a special collaborative ministry workshop with leaders from all three religious professional organizations! Don Southworth, Executive Director of the UUMA, Sarah Dan Jones, President of UUMN, and Natalie Fenimore, President of LREDA, will travel together to visit the Empowering Congregation and to consult, train, and facilitate a collaborative ministry visioning or training session customized to the strengths, challenges, and needs of the congregation.
The congregation that raises the highest gift per member for Association Sunday by December 31, 2011 will be named 2011's Empowering Congregation. The day-long or weekend workshop will be scheduled in consideration of the congregation’s calendar. The Empowering Congregation is welcome to invite other congregations or individuals to participate as well.
