Professional Leadership Support
Professional leadership in our denomination is changing as dynamics change within our communities. To energize our leaders for growth in an increasingly complex environment, we seek the following:- We seek to bring together religious leaders of color on an annual basis for nurture, renewal, specialized continuing education, and strategic planning around the special burden they carry for our anti-racism, anti-oppression, multi-cultural commitment. $30,000 will fund one conference for religious leaders of color.
- We seek to increase the institutional support for and training of interns and their supervising ministers and teaching congregations around growth. $200,000 will improve resources for interns, ministers and teaching congregations for one year.
- We seek to train, equip and deploy specialized interim ministers for congregations with special needs such as fast-growing congregations, potentially ‘breakthrough’ congregations, multi-cultural congregations, and congregations in crisis. $100,000 will fund the creation of a team of specialized interim ministers for one year.
- We seek to provide continuing education programs to train established ministers on growth strategies for their congregations. $400,000 would support a comprehensive training program for one year.
- We seek to provide part time associate ministers to every congregation over 400 members with skill set as required by the congregation’s needs. 50 congregations at $50,000 per year: $10,000 would provide one part time associate minister for one year.
- We seek to provide professional ministry two days per month to every gathered group over 15 who desire it. Cost TBD.
