UU Marketing Launches in Tampa Bay Area

On Saturday, February 9, nearly 150 Tampa Bay Area Unitarian Universalists (UUs) joined with Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) President Bill Sinkford at the UU Church of St. Petersburg, FL to celebrate the launch of their new regional marketing campaign.

Strategically based on the successes of previous regional campaigns, The Tampa Bay Area UU Regional Marketing Project aims to increase membership through a combination of hospitality trainings in local congregations and a mix of targeted advertising directing readers and viewers to a locally developed visitors' website and letting them know just where to find those congregations on the map.

Many exceptionally generous donors contributed a combined total of $236,000 over the past four months, to fund UU direct mail, television and radio spots, newspaper inserts, internet advertising, billboards in high traffic areas, and event sponsorship.

Area leaders and members, along with UUA and District staff, expressed their excitement and anticipation for all the possibilities of this campaign, through words and music, food, and drink.  “St. Petersburg really rocked on Saturday,” says District Executive, Rev. Kenn Hurto.  “It was a great affirmation of our hope.”
