Annual Program Fund

Significant financial support for the Unitarian Universalist movement comes directly from our 1,047 member congregations. Congregational contributions to the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) Annual Program Fund (APF) provide almost half of the Association's unrestricted income.

These contributions fund Association programs, services and resources that directly benefit and strengthen the congregations themselves and Unitarian Universalism as a whole. By joining together, we can create religious education curricula and social justice programs. We can also provide support for ministry, growth, extension and outreach.

Each independent congregation has the opportunity as a group to help fund the work of the Association and to be part of an interdependent religious community. With our thanks, your congregation's generosity truly makes the work of the Association possible!

Member congregations are asked to make a financial contribution each fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). The requested contribution (Fair Share) is calculated on the basis of the number of members your congregation certified for General Assembly the previous February.

Download the Annual Program Fund's brochure "We Build This Community Together (PDF): Recognizing the Congregational Contributions to the UUA Annual Program Fund."

The Fair Share for the following fiscal years (July 1 - June 30) is:

2009/10: $56 per certified member
2010/11: $56 per certified member

Congregations with 550 or more members have the option of calculating their contribution based on the number of members or at 4.2% of total budgeted expenses.

The UUA Board of Trustees determines each year's Fair Share assessment for our member congregations and the overall APF Goal. Member congregations elect their District Trustee, and thus have input through the political process. They can also express their opinions directly to the UUA Finance Committee.
